SCHALTKREIS WASSERMANN artist bio

Founded in 1979 by Stella & PJ Wassermann, SCHALTKREIS WASSERMANN was a pioneer group of European electronic music. When in 1982 the vinyl album PSYCHOTRON was released it made it to No. 7 of the British synthesizer charts in Melody Maker. It contained many elements that later became mainstream in techno and pop music and today is a much sought-after cult vinyl. Re-released as a CD in 2005 there are still new bootleg vinyls around like the one from London based Piccadilly Records in 2007.

Now SCHALTKREIS WASSERMANN is back again in the original formation but this time as a powerful multimedia live-act between electronica, ambient and psyTrance with Stella Wassermann singing and treating the Kaossillator while PJ Wassermann plays the VG-99 guitar synthesizer, vocoder and keyboards. They created one hour of fully orchestrated visual projections and a very energetic and danceable live sound.

The multi-faceted music of Schaltkreis Wassermann mirrors their longtime experience with electronic music. The avantgarde cosmic veterans are fusing psychedelic electronics with Stella's spaced-out vocals and PJ's rock guitar. Their main focus is on playing live, improvising over the studio-produced backing tracks and creating a multi-sensory experience with the amazing hypnotic visual projections that are fully synchronized to the beat. A new CD and DVD are in preparation.

"I'm obsessed with the sound of the electronic sequencers in the eighties and and with the joyful and playful feeling of sixties music", says Stella Wassermann, "and I'm very happy to be back on stage with this kind of sound, of course mixed with today's technology." Adds PJ Wassermann: "And it's great to see that also young people enjoy our show."
